Eleven members of National Grid's Bramford to Twinstead project team took on the challenge of climbing a transmission tower at National Grid's Eakring Training Centre on 19 August, raising almost £2,000 for local charity Brave Futures Ipswich.

The fundraiser saw colleagues from across the project scale the tower under the supervision of specialist trainers, helping raise funds for Brave Futures, a Suffolk-based charity that provides specialist support to children and young people affected by abuse and trauma.

From Monday to Thursday between 28 September and mid-November 2026, a delivery of large construction materials from the Port of Felixstowe to our main works compound (north of Leavenheath) will take place each day. We will time the deliveries to avoid rush hour - this means they won't leave the port until after 9am and should arrive at our main works compound at around 10am.

A lot of work goes into planning and carrying out vegetation management as we are keen to ensure we minimise our impact on the environment and wildlife. When developing our proposals for the project, we carefully considered their potential impact and looked at how we could avoid, reduce or mitigate them. This is set out in our development consent order application, which was approved in September 2024. 

National Grid is inviting residents, businesses, community groups and local organisations to help shape how more than £3.5 million of community funding could benefit communities across London and Hertfordshire.  

Feedback from the six-week survey will help inform the priorities and delivery of the fund, ensuring investment reflects local needs and ambitions.
