Large construction vehicle movements on A134 from late-September until mid-November
We're delivering construction materials to our main construction compound (north of Leavenheath) from late-September until mid-November 2026. No road closures are planned as part of this work, but the delivery vehicles will be larger than normal and could therefore cause some disruption to your journey.
From Monday to Thursday between 28 September and mid-November 2026, a delivery of large construction materials from the Port of Felixstowe to our main works compound (north of Leavenheath) will take place each day. We will time the deliveries to avoid rush hour - this means they won't leave the port until after 9am and should arrive at our main works compound at around 10am.
The size of the materials being transported means they can't be moved using standard road vehicles and will require a police escort. The police escort, which will include a lead vehicle and at least four outriders (officers travelling on motorbikes ahead of the convoy), will manage vehicle and pedestrian traffic along the delivery route. As part of this, they will notify and temporarily stop traffic where necessary.
Starting at the Port of Felixstowe, the delivery vehicles will travel along the A14, moving onto the A12 at J55 Copdock Interchange. The delivery vehicles will leave the A12 at J28 Colchester North interchange, connecting onto the A134 and up to our main construction compound (north of Leavenheath) via A1341 Via Urbis Romanae. The delivery convoy will travel at a maximum of 30 miles an hour along the A134. You can see a map of the delivery route below:
