Wallend team supports World Cleanup Day

Members of the Wallend Substation project team and colleagues from Balfour Beatty joined local charity wHoo Cares CIC in September to mark World Cleanup Day with a litter pick at Grain Beach and the surrounding coastline.

World Cleanup Day is a global movement that brings people together to tackle litter and waste in their local communities. Since the first coordinated World Cleanup Day in 2018, millions of people around the world have taken part in clean-up activities, from beaches and rivers to parks and streets.

This year, nine members of the team joined locally. With litter-picking equipment provided by Medway Council, they spent the morning collecting litter along Grain Beach and helping to clear waste from the coastline. It was a chance for colleagues working on the Wallend Substation project to get out into the local area and make a visible difference to the coastline for both residents and visitors.

Thanks to all of our volunteers!
