Hundreds of National Grid employees and additional contracted resources are working amid challenging conditions as they remove downed wires, trees, tree limbs, broken poles and other hazards, while focusing on public safety and service restoration after an early season storm brought heavy, wet snow to areas of northeastern New York last night.

The Nassau County Stand Down was a huge success again this year. The Nassau County Annual Veterans Winter Stand Down was hosted by Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman and the Nassau County Veterans Service Agency, the event welcomed over 500 hundred Veterans who were in line at the Freeport Armory in Freeport to participate and receive services and general needs items.

The John Theissen Toy Drive kicked off National Grid’s Season of Giving Campaign which is part of Project C the Companies commitment to communities. National Grid’s Season of Giving involves employees volunteering, distributing food and providing donations to local community organizations.

As part of National Grid’s Season of Giving campaign several events have been planned throughout the season to give back to the community.

National Grid employees in Troy donated Thanksgiving dinners to the Hope 7 Community Center for families in need.

Island Harvest celebrated the graduation of its third class from the Workforce Skills Development Institute’s Warehousing and Inventory Control Training program.
