Tidings of Comfort and Joy
National Grid crews decorated their trucks with festive lights before taking to the streets of Albany on Dec. 6 when, at top, they delivered cheer to Ronald McDonald House and Albany Medical Center's Children's care unit, where patients and their families gathered and watched with delight from an overhead walkway.
Albany crews also were busy as they decorated the Albany Ronald McDonald House. Likewise, crews across upstate New York in recent weeks decorated the Samaritan Center in Syracuse and Buffalo’s Kevin Guest House. The annual visits and hanging of holly, lights and festive wreaths have become tradition for National Grid, house staffs and guests alike.
National Grid Upstate New York employees look forward to spreading joy to families who stay at these facilities during the holidays. It’s all part of the way they make a difference this time of year, like when they volunteered at community centers to deliver dozens of Thanksgiving meals in Troy and Syracuse.
They also coordinated toy drives, and other efforts to deliver winter clothing, personal care items and more to make the season bright for people who need assistance.

On Dec. 1 WGRZ-TV anchor Scott Levin hosted National Grid Western New York Division Regional Director Ken Kujawa, center, and Corporate Affairs Manager David Bertola, right, as the company donated $7,500 to the annual FeedMore WNY Food2Families food drive.
In Central New York, Rich Burns presented a $1,000 check to Helping Hands of Potsdam to support its annual Thanksgiving basket distribution.
