A National Grid field force of more than 1,200 workers in eastern New York continues to restore power after 24 hours of freezing rain, sleet, heavy snow, strong winds and a half-inch of icing impacted the region.

National Grid’s eastern New York field force is busy removing downed wires, tree limbs and other hazards, focusing on public safety and restoring power to customers impacted by the ongoing wintry mix of freezing rain, snow and ice accumulation of up to a half-inch in areas north of Saratoga.

It’s a new year for scammers with reports of utility billing and payment scams on the rise across upstate New York.

National Grid’s field force is active across upstate New York removing downed trees, tree limbs, wires, broken poles and other hazards, focusing on public safety and restoring power to customers impacted by the ongoing wind and ice storm that began Saturday evening.

In preparation for a forecasted storm that could bring high winds and ice accumulation of up to an inch in some regions of upstate New York’s North Country, National Grid has increased weekend staffing and has prepositioned crews in areas expected to be hardest hit, including the Saint Lawrence and Champlain valleys in Clinton County.
