As manufacturers around the world look for ways to make products that support the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, National Grid is finding a way to support companies across New York who are joining those efforts.

National Grid line, tree and service workers in eastern New York continue to focus on public safety as they remove downed wires, trees, tree limbs and other hazards and replace more than 50 broken poles after damaging wind and rain storms swept across the region yesterday as part of a storm system that impacted customers across upstate New York.

With the continuing warm temperatures across upstate New York this week, strong, scattered thunderstorms in portions of the region are possible today and into the evening hours.

National Grid has called off the public appeal to reduce electricity use in the Fayetteville, Manlius, Pompey and Jamesville areas of eastern Onondaga County today after crews successfully installed a mobile substation to serve customers while repairs to the permanent substation are being made.

National Grid is asking customers in the Fayetteville, Manlius, Pompey and Jamesville areas of eastern Onondaga County to reduce unnecessary electricity usage through noon Wednesday.

A workforce of more than 1,600 line, service, tree, damage assessment and public safety workers, including line crew support from western New York, have been working through the night to restore about 71,000 National Grid customers who lost power due to a violent storm that came across the central and eastern portions of the state yesterday.

As the weather begins to get warmer in upstate New York this week, strong, scattered thunderstorms across portions of central and eastern New York are possible today and into the evening hours. National Grid has a full contingent of crews ready to respond to any damage caused by severe weather.
