National Grid’s field force of more than 2,500 line, tree, damage and public safety specialists have been working around the clock in the face of hazardous heat to clear trees and tree branches, and repair downed power lines and broken equipment to restore service to customers in Central New York.

National Grid’s field force of more than 2,500 highly skilled workers is continuing around-the-clock restoration efforts in hazardous conditions as they clean up extensive debris, repair damaged equipment and restore service to customers after ferocious storms, including a confirmed tornado, ripped through the Mohawk Valley and Northern New York early Sunday morning.

More than 2,500 line, service, tree, damage assessment and public safety workers are active across National Grid’s Mohawk Valley and Northern New York service areas after severe thunderstorms — with wind gusts up to 62 mph and rainfall exceeding three inches in some areas — impacted the region early Sunday morning.

National Grid commercial and industrial customers participating in the company’s Manufacturing Productivity Program created 165 new jobs and achieved nearly $1 million in energy savings in 2024.
