National Grid Kicks Off Work Zone Safety Week Alongside NYC DOT and Other Agencies
BROOKLYN, N.Y. – As part of the National Work Zone Awareness Week, April 17 – 21, National Grid joined NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez, alongside NYC Department of Design and Construction, the NYC Department of Environmental Protection, the General Contractors Association of New York, and others for a press event on the importance of ensuring work zone safety for those people who work tirelessly to ensure the integrity and reliability for the New York Metro area and statewide infrastructure of streets, bridges, and highways.
“At National Grid, safety is our top priority – for our workers and for the public. We’re committed to delivering safe and reliable service to the 1.9 million customers in the New York Metro area and on Long Island who depend on us for the energy they need to run their homes and businesses.” said Victor Vientos, Director of Operations Contractor Oversight and Paving. “Observing work zones, slowing down and paying attention to your surroundings can ensure the wellbeing of all involved. It also helps to ensure workers can complete the necessary work safely for the betterment of our communities.”
The event was held at the jobsite for a Vision Zero Street Improvement Project along Meeker Avenue under the BQE in Brooklyn.
DOTs press release for the event can be found here.
