National Grid Continues to Host Customer Assistance Events Across Massachusetts this Summer
Webinar on August 3rd will highlight Bill Management, Budget Billing, and the Payment Assistance Bundle
WALTHAM, MA – National Grid will continue hosting customer assistance events across Massachusetts throughout July and August as part of its Summer Cooling campaign, bringing energy-saving tips and bill support directly to customers. At these events, customers can meet with energy experts to learn ways to lower energy use, better understand their bills, and access programs such as payment assistance, budget billing, the Tiered Discount Rate Program, and the Arrears Management Program.
On Monday, August 3rd, National Grid will also host a Summer Bill Assistance Webinar led by the company’s Consumer Advocates, which will provide customers with information on bill management options, payment plans, assistance programs, and other resources to help manage energy costs during the high-heat months and in the future. Customers who cannot attend the live session are encouraged to register, as a recording and presentation materials will be emailed to all registrants following the webinar.
“Our in-person and virtual events aim to make it easy for customers to get the support they need, from billing questions and payment assistance, but also to highlight the small changes they can make this summer to stay cool and keep energy costs down,” said Bill Malee, Chief Customer Officer, National Grid.
Help Managing Energy Bills
National Grid customers can now sign up for the Payment Assistance Bundle. The bundle combines three helpful solutions to make it easier for managing energy costs and paying down past due amounts over a 12-month period:
- Deferred Payment Agreement: Spread out past-due balance into future monthly payments.
- Automatic Monthly Payments: Automatically deduct payments from your bank account each month and avoid missing due dates.
- Budget Plan: Break down annual energy costs into balanced monthly payments, making it easier to budget and plan expenses.
Residential customers interested in enrolling in the Payment Assistance Bundle or other Bill Assistance program can enroll via their ‘My Account’ login or they can contact a Customer Service Specialist at 1-800-233-5325. Visit ngrid.com/hereforyou to learn more about our programs.
Ways to Lower Energy Costs During the Summer
Below are some timely energy-saving tips that can be utilized during heat waves to help Massachusetts customers save on energy costs throughout the hot summer:
- Adjust thermostats. Setting a thermostat to a higher, reasonable temperature while at home and adjusting it even higher when away from home can help save energy. Lowering the thermostat below the desired setting will not cool a home faster and may result in unnecessary energy consumption.
- Run fans with air conditioning. Oscillating or box fans near air conditioning vents can improve cold air flow throughout a room.
- Close window coverings. Ambient sunlight can heat a room. Turning off unused lighting and drawing window blinds to reduce heat will keep air conditioning from running more than needed.
- Charge electric vehicles overnight. Shifting electric vehicle charging to overnight hours can earn customers off-peak charging rewards and reduce stress on the grid.
