National Grid get into the festival spirit at Devizes Carnival

The end of summer celebrations were in full swing when members of the North Wessex Downs VIP project team lent a hand at Devizes Carnival.

The much-loved event which takes place annually, was organised by a joint effort this year between Devizes Outdoor Celebratory Arts (DOCA) and Devizes Town Council.

National Grid’s senior project manager Amardeep Malhi and project supervisor Fiona Chikandwa were tasked with helping to ensure the safety of the public and festival goers whilst also making the event accessible for families with small children. The volunteers got stuck into the carnival spirit, helping to marshal the main parade at different points along the procession.

Speaking about the event, Fiona Chikandwa said: “We have always been very grateful for the patience and understanding of the community in Devizes whilst work has been taking place on the North Wessex Downs VIP project.

“The Carnival is such an important annual event for the town and it was wonderful to see how many different local groups were involved including the fire service, Scout groups, dance clubs, the Young Farmers Club and Devizes Football Club, to name just a few.”

If you have any questions about the project or know of any other local organisations or groups that the project could support, please get in touch with the VIP project team directly by calling 0330 134 0051 or sending an email to: [email protected].
