We Bring Energy to Power Possibilities

We design, build and operate long lead-time, capital-intensive infrastructure. It’s our job to ensure that energy grids in our regions – both electricity and natural gas – have the capability to move energy to where it is needed, when it is needed. This year we announced our intention to invest at least £70 billion over the next five years to enhance our networks. This is an ambitious effort, and the enormity of the challenge demands that we increase our agility, our productivity, and our speed of adoption.

We are investing at scale to expand and modernise the networks that will underpin the next phase of economic growth. Equally important is how we use the assets we already have. By increasing utilisation of existing infrastructure and connecting flexible demand more quickly, we can unlock additional capacity, support affordability by spreading costs over greater volumes, and ensure we are extracting full value from today’s networks even as we build for the future. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to lead National Grid through this period of profound change. The networks we plan, build and operate today will serve customers for decades.
