Site update: Christmas 2023 working arrangements

Work on the Eryri VIP project will temporarily pause towards the end of December for the Christmas period, before our teams return to work in early January. We’ve provided an update below on some aspects of our site management during this period.

Traffic management in Minffordd

Our appointed contractor HOCHTIEF (UK) Construction Ltd will be temporarily removing the traffic management restrictions that are in place on the back road to Minffordd (between the junction with the A497 and our construction compound) from Friday 22 December 2023 up to and including until Monday 1 January 2024.

The traffic management restrictions will resume on Tuesday 2 January 2024. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and understanding to date while these measures are in place.

To recap, the traffic management along the back road will be required during construction until December 2026. After December 2026 there will be a shorter period of work required to remove the pylons once the new underground cable is completed, and as our plans for these works progress we’ll keep you up to date.

Piling works update

Due to a range of factors including the adverse weather conditions we have been experiencing in recent weeks, we have not yet completed the piling work for the project within our compound at Garth.

This activity will also now stop on 22 December and resume for a further period in early January 2024. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and will aim to safely finish this important work as quickly as we can.

Llandecwyn site operations

Work at our site near Llandecwyn will also be stopping on Friday 22 December for the Christmas break. We’ll be restarting work again here on Tuesday 2 January.

There is a possibility that Scottish Power Energy Networks (SPEN) may be continuing to work during this period, as part of their ongoing work to divert their overhead line that runs across our site which will allow us to safely construct our new shaft. They can be contacted on 0845 270 0783 or via their website.
