Community funds

We want to make a lasting, positive difference to people and places hosting the new infrastructure that's helping the UK move to more secure, cleaner, home-grown energy from more affordable sources.

Where we’re building new, above-ground infrastructure, we'll deliver dedicated community funds for the areas closest to our works. Funds range from £200,000 into the millions, depending on the type and scale of the project

Shaped by the community, for the community, these funds will be designed to reflect local needs and developed in line with government guidance.

We’ll work with residents, charities, community groups and elected representatives to explore funding themes, define the eligible area, and look at delivery models – including grant programmes, partnerships and co-funding arrangements – to identify the best fit.

Our approach

We're a responsible business with a long-standing commitment to the communities we work alongside.

We welcome the publication of government guidance on community funds for electricity infrastructure, which means we can do even more.

We're committed to:

Working with communities to understand what matters most and being open, clear and accountable in how we engage and consult.

Ensuring a diverse range of local voices can participate and be heard.

Tailoring each fund to local needs and aspirations.

Distributing funding fairly and proportionately with benefits focused closest to the new infrastructure.
