Overhead line refurbishment and reconductoring
The Grain to Tilbury project also includes the full refurbishment and reconductoring of the existing overhead line between Tilbury, Kingsnorth, and the Isle of Grain. Pre-commencement works are currently taking place to prepare for the reconductoring work to begin in 2026.
As this work is on existing infrastructure, it does not require a planning application to deliver. However, engagement is already taking place with affected landowners, with the potential for a Compulsory Purchase Order of some parcels of land next year, where required.
Current project status
Survey work and preparation boreholes are currently underway, and due to be complete in early 2026.
