Volunteering

We view community engagement as a duty and as a chance to support our communities, encourage a sustainable workforce, and drive positive change - it's what we call "Grid for Good".

Our goal is to empower our employees to contribute a total of 500,000 volunteer hours within our communities by 2030.

Grid for Good activity is centred around three core focus areas:

  1. Affordable Energy: Increasing access to affordable energy, especially for those not able to meet their basic energy needs.
  2. Skills and Jobs: Developing the energy workforce by ensuring equitable access to STEM/STEAM education, skills training, career pathways and employment resources.
  3. Community Resilience: Supporting our communities through changing energy needs.

Our Inaugural Global Day of Service

National Grid employees in the US and UK joined forces for the first Grid for Good Global Day of Service, working with local partners to strengthen neighbourhoods through volunteering.
