The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games will see around 4,500 athletes from 72 nations and territories compete in 19 sports across 15 competition venues from 28 July until 8 August 2022. As the biggest sporting event ever to be held in the West Midlands, it is expected to

The event was organised by veteran Craig Owens who works as a Quality Manager for Siemens Energy on the Hinkley Connection project.

A huge thank you to everyone involved and for the generosity of those who helped us raise the money

The six man team started the cycle on the 1 July in Heaton, Newcastle and finished four days later Sandford, Somerset – where a brand new substation is being built as part of the Hinkley Connection project.

Applicants will have until 15 August to submit a non-binding declaration of their interest in capacity at the Grain LNG importation terminal. This is an opportunity for the market to indicate the quantities and duration of the contracts they would like, enabling Grain LNG to determine the best way to proceed and the capacity products to offer.

The money was used to install independent changing and shower facilities for use by the growing number of female members and visiting teams in a purpose-built portacabin away from the main clubhouse.

The club only had male changing rooms with no provisions for the ladies team, or female members of the club. Banwell FC hopes the new changing rooms will attract more female representation and help it create a more inclusive and welcoming environment.

Paul White, Chairman at Banwell FC, commented:

Ahead of the construction of lattice pylons in Avonmouth in early July, the two hour event provided the community with the opportunity to learn more about where they will be built, what will happen to existing pylons, and how the pylons are constructed.

The event was welcomed by residents, who told our team that the timing of the event in the early evening fitted well with their schedules and allowed them to hear first-hand about the work before the most visible aspects started.

To mark International Women in Engineering Day 2022 (#INWED22), Tanya Bukhari shares her route into engineering through the Grid for Good programme.  The scheme helps individuals from diverse backgrounds access training and employment in the energy sector. Tanya also talks about the challenges she has overcome and why more young people should consider the profession regardless of their background and experiences.

Lead Project manager, Ben Smith and External Affairs manager Lizzie Horne led 25 enthusiastic ramblers in two walks over Roundway Hill north of the market town of Devizes. The walks gave excellent views of the 4.5km and up to 13 pylons which will be removed and replaced with underground cable as part of National Grid’s VIP project in England and Wales.
