National Grid today (26 June) announced that Katie Jackson will join National Grid as President of National Grid Ventures (NGV) and sit on the Group Executive Committee, further strengthening National Grid’s leadership team and reinforcing its credentials as a leader in the energy transition.
She will join National Grid in July and will assume full duties at NGV on 1 September.
The proposed new infrastructure will be able to transport 6 gigawatts enough to power 6 million homes in the East of England and across the country, helping the UK reduce its reliance on fossil fuels and contribute to lower energy bills in the long term.
If approved, the project will see the pylons replaced with cables buried underground to significantly enhance the landscape and views as part of National Grid’s Visual Impact Provision (VIP) project*, a national programme to reduce the visual impact of existing high-voltage power lines in protected areas across England and Wales.
The new transformer replaces one already at Trawsfynydd Substation, which is at the end of its working life. National Grid has already successfully delivered a similar transformer in September 2020 along the same route.
