National Grid Government Relations Director Included on City & State Inaugural Who's Who Government Feature
BROOKLYN, N.Y. – National Grid’s New York Director of Government Relations, Kimberly Ireland, has been named on the City & State New York inaugural Who’s Who in Government Relations list for 2023. This recognition celebrates the most influential and impactful individuals in New York’s public and private sectors advocating for policy changes at the city, state, and federal levels.
As a leader in the clean energy transition, New York stands at the forefront, with some of the most ambitious renewable energy targets in the nation to reach by 2030.
Renewable energy is the cornerstone of National Grid’s plan to meet the climate change goals established by the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA). The company is investing billions in clean energy infrastructure, workforce development, and programs to help customers electrify their homes and businesses.
Against this backdrop, Ireland and her team have been instrumental in collaborating with a coalition of environmental and labor organizations on a new law enabling utility ownership of thermal energy networks, an important component to decarbonize building heat. During the recent New York State Legislative session, her team championed legislation approved by both houses to promote and inform state policy in preparation for the growing use of electric vehicles and the need for utility infrastructure to support charging. Additionally, they worked with customer focused organizations AARP and PULP to shepherd the passage of legislation to streamline the application processes for utility customer assistance programs. Ireland’s leadership reinforces National Grid’s mission to meet the state’s clean energy goals for all New Yorkers, leaving no one behind.
Ireland lives in Burnt Hills, N.Y. with her family. In addition to her work to advance the clean energy future, she is also involved in work with First Robotics Competition and is on the board of the Saratoga Springs Chamber of Commerce.
