National Grid Completes Power Restoration to 99% of Customers After Thunderstorms, Tornadoes Impact Region

National Grid has restored service to nearly 128,000 Central and Northern New York customers affected by a devastating thunderstorm that hit the region early Sunday morning, bringing heavy rain, high winds, and two EF-1 tornadoes in the Mohawk Valley. The storms uprooted trees, flooded large areas of land, snapped more than 200 utility poles, and caused significant damage to the energy delivery system. Crews remain at work in the Mohawk Valley restoring service in remote and hardest-to-access areas. As of 12:30 p.m., approximately 700 Mohawk Valley customers remain without power.
