EV charging stations installed at new parking garage

National Grid, through its Electric Vehicle Make Ready Program, contributed $28,500 toward a Montante Solar project to add EV charging stations in Buffalo.

The project, located at the recently opened Lancaster Square Parking Garage at 1277 Delaware Ave., includes five electric vehicle charging stations and 10 ports that can be used by tenants and residents in the nearby neighborhood. Montante Solar officials are also hopeful that the charging stations will be used by visitors to the city, who can securely charge their electric vehicles and be protected from the elements.

For the charging stations, Montante Solar partnered with National Grid which, through its Electric Vehicle Make-Ready Program, provides funding for up to 100 percent of electric infrastructure costs for approved projects.

“There needs to be further adoption of EV infrastructure, particularly in areas where EVs aren’t being purchased to help consumers feel confident in making the investment in an electric vehicle,” said Montante Solar President Daniel Montante. “We are committed to ensuring EV charging stations are widely accessible to the general public to promote the adoption of electric vehicles in our region.”

“It’s always gratifying to work with partners like Montante Solar, who know that installing EV charging stations is a great way to attract and retain new customers and employees,” said National Grid Regional Director Ken Kujawa. “National Grid offers a make-ready EV charging program for businesses, multi-unit residential buildings and retail stores, as well as parks and other vacation spots. We also offer a program for companies looking to electrify their fleets, which can reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve air quality and meet New York State’s decarbonization goals.”
