Carl Trowell

 

Career: Prior to joining National Grid, Carl was the Chief Executive Officer of Acteon Group Ltd, a specialist marine infrastructure and energy services company, and prior to that he was the CEO and then Executive Chairman of the energy services company Ensco Ltd (now Valaris). He spent the majority of his career with Schlumberger Ltd, in a range of international management positions, ultimately becoming President of three global divisions, including the Integrated Project Management division. He holds a degree from Imperial College London, a PhD from the University of Cambridge and an MBA from the Open University. 

Skills and competencies: Carl has over 25 years of experience in the services, engineering and project management sectors of the energy industry. He has executive experience in running complex technical organisations and project delivery. He has a strong personal interest in the deployment of new technologies and techniques in industrial projects. Carl has broad international experience at CEO and board level.
