These values shape our culture, influence how our 30,000 colleagues show up for one another, and determine how our customers and communities experience us. They reflect the spirit, attitude, and behaviours we expect from ourselves as we continue to deliver safe, reliable energy every day – while also building the grid for the future.

At National Grid, our values are not just words on a page. They are visible, lived and celebrated every day.

Insights from our employee engagement survey and stakeholder workshops highlighted a need for a structured internal leadership development pathway for Band C managers, our middle management population who balance the day-to-day demands of leading their teams with the needs of executive leadership. Key priorities that emerged for this programme include inspiring communication, leading through change, decision making, and delegation.

The EGL3 contracts confirm Hitachi Energy as the delivery partner for the high voltage direct current (HVDC) converter stations in Aberdeenshire, Scotland and West Norfolk, England, and NKT as the delivery partner for the subsea and underground cable that will link the converter stations.

National Grid is inviting communities across Derbyshire to take part in the second stage of consultation of its Chesterfield to Willington electricity transmission project, part of The Great Grid Upgrade - the largest overhaul of the UK’s electricity network in generations. The eight-week consultation will run from Tuesday 3 March to Tuesday 28 April and builds on feedback received during the first stage of consultation.

Emerald AI, EPRI, National Grid, Nebius, and NVIDIA today announced a landmark, UK-first demonstration proving high-performance AI infrastructure can operate as a flexible, grid-responsive asset. Using Emerald AI’s software, Emerald Conductor, to manage a cluster of NVIDIA GPUs, the trial validated that artificial intelligence data centres can dynamically adjust power consumption in response to real-time signals, without disrupting critical workloads.

We developed CEDE in-house in just under a year. The tool combines load forecasts, feeder limits, and DER capabilities to create efficient DER dispatch plans that take into account local system limitations and reliability. It helps us to understand how to best use our own distribution assets and customer owned resources to provide the most cost-effective service to the community during times of peak electricity demand.
