As educators around the world are recognized during National Teacher Appreciation Week, National Grid and Earth Cubs today announce the inaugural cohort of teachers from the United States and the United Kingdom selected for the National Grid Energy Literacy Fellowship.
The Wetlands Trail is designed to be both educational and enjoyable, featuring twelve vibrantly designed lecterns with interchangeable seasonal wildlife panels. They include facts and quizzes about the local wildlife, a charming Bug House to promote biodiversity, and the Wilbur Water Vole Trail for visitors to explore. These elements make the trail a wonderful destination for families, nature enthusiasts, and anyone looking to enjoy the great outdoors.
The charity has received a £16,000 grant to support its Hutton Hill: Strengthening Nature’s Network project, helping to develop the site as a hub for conservation, volunteering and community engagement.
To date, the funding has enabled the Trust to invest in essential tools, equipment and PPE for volunteers, including brush cutters and chainsaws, as well as the construction of on-site compost toilet facilities. It has also supported the delivery of training courses, helping ensure volunteers feel confident and safe using the new equipment.
The inspection awarded an "Outstanding" grade in every area reviewed, including leadership and management, quality of education, personal development, and behaviours and attitudes: reaffirming the strength, consistency and ambition of our training programmes.
