Derek Goodban

UK General Counsel

 

Derek joined National Grid as UK General Counsel in January 2019. He leads the UK legal team, which provides legal advice to the core regulated businesses – National Grid Electricity Transmission, National Grid Gas and National Grid ESO – and to a wide range of group functions.

As well as sitting on the UK Executive Committee, he is company secretary of NGET and NGG.

For the previous 18 years, Derek was a partner at international law firm Gowling WLG, where he established and led the highly regarded, multi-disciplinary UK energy team and co-chaired the global energy group. His experience includes energy regulation, energy technology, project development, energy M&A and energy trading.
