From 7.00pm on Sunday 21st September until 6.00am on Monday 6th October 2025, the southbound carriageway of the A361 between Hopton Road roundabout and Bishops Cannings will be closed to all traffic.

The A361 will be open to northbound traffic heading out of Devizes only.

For vehicles travelling southbound into Devizes, a clearly signposted diversion route will be in place throughout the duration of the work.

To ensure the safety of our workforce and the public while this is carried out, traffic management measures will be in place between 8 and 19 September 2025. These will operate on weekdays between 08:00 and 17:30, and on weekends between 08:00 to 17:00. Outside of these hours, the traffic management will be removed. The work will be carried out by Balfour Beatty, on behalf of National Grid.

  • Drones will fly close to live power infrastructure, piloted from a central control room, assessing the condition of overhead power lines, with the data captured informing National Grid’s maintenance and investment programmes
  • Technology will complement existing helicopter and human assessments, delivering cost and environmental savings, as well as freeing up engineers to perform other skilled tasks

This year, National Grid has awarded the following community organisations with grants to improve their facilities:

To ensure the safety of our workforce and the public while this work is carried out, traffic management measures will be in place between 28 August and 5 September 2025 (excluding 3 September 2025, when the British Tour will be taking place) between the hours of 09:30 to 15:00. The work will be carried out by Balfour Beatty on behalf of National Grid.
