Information for landowners
Before we submit our application for development consent, we are undertaking work to understand who has a legal interest in the land in and around the areas considered as part of North Humber to High Marnham.
Under the Planning Act 2008, we are required to identify persons with an interest in land for the purposes of consultation and notification, a process known as ‘diligent inquiry’. We have appointed the land referencing firm, WSP, to assist with diligent inquiry by identifying and contacting individuals to confirm their interest in the land.
Surveys
As part of our application for development consent, we will submit a detailed environmental statement. Over the past few years, you may have seen members of our team out on-site along the route of the project as they carry out a range of environmental surveys. These surveys are important as they help us to understand the area around our proposals so that we can take into account as we develop our plans.
Surveys will continue between now and the submission of our application for development consent, which is planned for later in 2026. While some surveys will take place on public rights of way, there will be instances where we need to access private land to carry out our work. We will always seek to agree this with the landowner/occupier where we can before the work takes place, and the members of our team carrying out survey works will always carry identification.
There may be instances that during our surveys we need to use equipment such as cameras. These are for project use only, no surveillance or monitoring of individuals or private activities is undertaken and video recordings are retained temporarily for processing and quality checking the survey outputs. Once this process is complete, the raw video footage is deleted following the survey contractor’s data retention procedures.
In some cases, survey activity may continue after we have submitted our application for development consent. This is because surveys are undertaken during appropriate seasonal windows, depending on the type of survey and the species or features being assessed. Some surveys can be carried out throughout the year, while others are restricted to certain seasons to ensure accurate and reliable results. Where surveys require seasonal timing, works have taken place since 2023 and remain ongoing.
All key stakeholders, such as the local planning authorities and environmental bodies have been fully informed of our planned works. Access to land parcels is agreed before any surveys may take place between our land agents Dalcour Maclaren, landowners and any occupiers / tenants.
