National Grid is building a brand new, state-of-the-art control centre that will reinforce network resilience, uphold National Grid Electricity Transmission’s (NGET) world-class reliability standards and power the clean energy transition.

Following its launch in May this year, Buddug, the Eryri VIP tunnel boring machine (TBM) is making good progress digging the tunnel which will contain the underground electricity cables which will replace the 3km of overhead line and 10 pylons that cross the Dwyryd Estuary within the Eryri National Park.

Today, Thursday 18 September, National Grid begins four pre-application consultations on proposals to reinforce and refurbish the existing electricity network between Pentir and Trawsfynydd. The consultations are open until Wednesday 15 October.
