National Grid has announced the launch of its first green bond. Raising Euro500million (approximately £430million), the bond’s proceeds will finance UK electricity transmission projects with environmental benefits.

Marking the completion of the new Humber Tunnel that will house a key gas pipeline, two local mayors from either side of the tunnel have met at the site.

National Grid’s field force is active across upstate New York removing downed trees, tree limbs, wires, broken poles and other hazards, focusing on public safety and restoring power to customers impacted by the ongoing wind and ice storm that began Saturday evening.

In preparation for a forecasted storm that could bring high winds and ice accumulation of up to an inch in some regions of upstate New York’s North Country, National Grid has increased weekend staffing and has prepositioned crews in areas expected to be hardest hit, including the Saint Lawrence and Champlain valleys in Clinton County.
