WALTHAM, MA/PROVIDENCE, RI – National Grid has nearly 1,300 field personnel in Massachusetts and Rhode Island responding to power outages caused by downed limbs, trees, and poles resulting from a strong wind storm sweeping across the Northeast.

WALTHAM, MA/PROVIDENCE, RI – National Grid is preparing for a powerful storm headed towards New England on Monday.

In preparation for high wind warnings forecasted across upstate New York beginning Sunday night and continuing through Monday, National Grid has increased staffing to more than 2,000 line, service, tree, damage assessment and public safety workers.

National Grid is closely monitoring the weather forecast, which calls for strong winds, with gusts up to 50 mph, across portions of upstate New York tonight through Friday.

National Grid has taken another step to reduce the coronavirus’ financial strain and economic uncertainty on upstate New York customers by deferring a bill increase that was scheduled to take effect April 1.

National Grid is increasing staffing and closely monitoring Friday’s weather forecast, which calls for high winds, with gusts of up to 60 mph, across portions of upstate New York.
