National Grid Issues Statement on the Release of the Transportation Climate Initiative Program’s Final Memorandum of Understanding

A statement from Badar Khan, President, National Grid US:

“Today marks an important milestone in the development of the Transportation Climate Initiative Program, an effort National Grid is proud to have supported since its inception. National Grid is committed to advancing the ambitious climate goals in our states, and aggressive action to reduce transportation carbon emissions is a necessary step toward achieving those goals. We believe a regional approach is critical to achieving meaningful results. Emissions don’t stop at city, state, or even national borders. Programs like the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative have shown that the Northeast is capable of achieving substantial emission reductions when we come together for a common purpose.”

Khan continued, “The revenue generated under the program provides a tremendous opportunity to advance investment in clean transportation in the region, benefitting both our economy and environment.  We applaud state leaders’ commitment to equity by committing to invest 35% of the resulting revenue in disadvantaged communities.”

The Memorandum of Understanding can be found here.
