National Grid supports Spiral Skills with laptop donations

National Grid’s Community Benefit Programme is supporting young people with Spiral Skill’s STEM education initiative

At National Grid, we believe in the power of education and the importance of supporting initiatives that foster learning in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

Recently, we had the opportunity to donate seven laptops capable of running Windows 11 to Spiral Skills, an organisation dedicated to empowering education to employment pathways and enhancing STEM education. This donation is part of the wider community benefit programme that National Grid is providing to support local initiatives as part of our London Power Tunnels project.

Spiral Skills work with around 1,000 extraordinary young people a year. These 14 to 25-year-olds often come from communities impacted by socio-economic disparities and lack the support systems and access to opportunities essential for success. With diverse learning styles and needs or English as their second language, they face complex challenges that often lead to isolation or educational exclusion.

The laptops are intended to support Spiral Skills' learning programmes, providing students with the tools they need to thrive in a technology-driven world. We fully support their mission and the students that they support.

Taylor McDonald, Marketing Manager at Spiral Skills, shared, "Access to these laptops will be a game-changer for the young people we support. They’ll enable hands-on digital skills training, creative projects, and career development opportunities that wouldn’t be possible otherwise. In the future, we’ll use them to expand our workshops, ensuring every young person has the tools they need to succeed."

We are proud to contribute to initiatives that empower the next generation of innovators and problem solvers. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of students and help them achieve their full potential.

Stay tuned for more updates on our community engagement efforts!
