Landscape, ecology and heritage surveys

In spring 2022, we held our first stage of public consultation to introduce our proposals and explain why we need to build the East Anglia Green Energy Enablement (GREEN) project. We are now reviewing the feedback received and will carefully consider peoples’ comments as we take the project forward.

To understand more about the local environment, we need to carry out walkover surveys. These will be on land within the corridor, on some adjoining land, and areas that have been identified through consultation feedback as potentially sensitive.

These surveys are to assess the landscape, ecology and cultural heritage aspects of the area, to inform further detailed environmental assessments.

Fisher German is working on behalf of National Grid to contact landowners and to arrange access for surveys. A letter will be posted to landowners containing further information.

Giving permission to carry out surveys does not affect your right to make representations about our project.

We encourage all landowners to appoint an agent/surveyor to act on their behalf where we are seeking to survey or rights to carry out works on your property. National Grid will reimburse any professional fees reasonably incurred in respect of all claims and advice. More information on this can be found within our Land Rights Strategy and on our Information for Landowners page.

The survey information will be published either as part of our Preliminary Environmental Information at our next stage of consultation or to support our application for a DCO.
