Important information about temporary footpath closure

From Monday 18 August, Public Footpath Number 52 in Llandecwyn will be closed for a period of up to three weeks as we reach a critical stage of the Eryri Visual Impact Provision (VIP) project.

The VIP project in Eryri National Park aims to reduce the visual impact of National Grid’s overhead line across the Dwyryd Estuary from Minffordd to Llandecwyn.

The temporary closure of the public right of way has been agreed with Cyngor Gwynedd and is necessary for the safety of the public and our team whilst specialist contractors carry out ground investigation works on behalf of National Grid.

The ground investigations are required to allow us to create the detailed design of the foundations for the overhead line diversion works associated with the Llandecwyn Tunnel Head House which will connect the existing overhead line to the new cables buried under the Dwyryd Estuary.

The closure of the public right of way will be clearly signposted. During the closure period all users of the public right of way are encouraged to use the alternative route we have agreed with Eryri National Park, as highlighted in yellow on the map below.
