National Grid and partners donate Easter eggs to Hackney community groups
National Grid colleagues partnered with Murphy Group and M Group to provide a festive Easter donation initiative in Hackney.
Together, the organisations donated 200 Easter eggs to community groups across Hackney, helping to spread some seasonal cheer as part of National Grid’s ongoing commitment to supporting communities along the North London Reinforcement project route.
Representatives from National Grid and Murphy Group visited Holly Street Community Centre in east London to deliver Easter eggs ahead of the centre’s Easter lunch for elderly residents, supported by Age UK. The donations added to the celebrations and were warmly received, helping to create a welcoming and sociable atmosphere for residents coming together over the holiday period.
The remaining Easter eggs were distributed to Hackney Young Carers, supporting young people across the borough who balance caring responsibilities with school and everyday life. The contribution aimed to recognise their efforts and bring a small but meaningful boost during Easter.
The initiative forms part of National Grid’s wider programme of community engagement and social value activity linked to the North London Reinforcement project. Alongside upgrading the electricity network across North London, National Grid is working with local charities, schools, community groups and partner organisations to deliver meaningful benefits for the communities affected by the project.
A representative from Murphy Group said:
We’re pleased to be working alongside National Grid and our partners to support communities close to the project. It’s great to be involved in something that brings people together and makes a positive difference locally, particularly at a time of year like Easter.
Through volunteering initiatives, educational programmes, local partnerships and charitable activities, National Grid is committed to creating a positive legacy for communities. By working closely with local organisations, the project aims to make a meaningful difference in the areas impacted by construction, both during delivery and beyond.
