Volunteering at national nature reserve

Hinkley Connection Project giving back to the local community

We are committed to giving back to the communities where we work and leaving a positive legacy. In the autumn of 2018, the Hinkley Connection Project team spent a day volunteering at Westhay Moor National Nature Reserve in Somerset.

The aim of the day was to clear unwanted trees from the area to restore the peatland, further enhance the reserve and increase the range of flora and fauna. Working with the Somerset Wildlife Trust, the team helped to transform a piece of land on this internationally acclaimed National Nature Reserve.

Supporting the team on the day, Mark Blake, Somerset Wildlife Trust’s Reserves Manager, said: “I’m absolutely delighted with the amount that was actually achieved! It was great working with such an enthusiastic team from National Grid.”
