BROOKLYN/HICKSVILLE, NY – National Grid’s storm readiness team has been monitoring the weather forecast and preparing to ensure reliability of the energy delivery system as a Nor’easter is expected to bring a wintry mix with heavy wind and rain to the New York region starting tonight.

WALTHAM, MA – National Grid is prepared for a powerful Nor’easter to impact Massachusetts Monday evening through Wednesday, bringing significant snow, strong winds, rain, and minor coastal flooding into the region.

National Grid has increased staffing and is extending evening and overnight work shifts today through Wednesday in preparation for a significant winter storm that is expected to bring prolonged heavy, wet snow and gusty winds to portions of central and eastern New York.

National Grid crews continue to work around the clock and have restored power to 70,600, or 97%, of the 72,600 eastern New York customers impacted by the severe weekend weather that caused widespread damage across eastern New York.

Hundreds of National Grid workers remain active amid challenging conditions as they remove downed wires, trees, tree limbs, broken poles and other hazards, while focusing on public safety and service restoration after a winter storm brought heavy, wet snow to areas of eastern New York beginning Friday evening.
