WALTHAM, MA – National Grid and Boston Children’s Museum have selected six afterschool programs as pilot locations for the launch of a community learning model centered on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM).

BOSTON, MA – National Grid and Eversource today announced the completion of the Woburn to Wakefield Transmission Line Project, bolstering the backbone of the region’s electric transmission grid, making the system more resilient to extreme weather, and improving reliability for customers.

National Grid’s field force of more than 2,700 line, tree, damage and public safety specialists have been working around the clock to clear trees and tree branches, and repair downed power lines and broken equipment to restore service to customers in eastern New York after an early spring storm brought ice and heavy, wet snow to the region.

National Grid’s expanded field force has worked around the clock to restore service to 158,000 of the nearly 205,000 customers affected by the destructive ice and snow storm that struck eastern New York this weekend.

National Grid’s eastern New York field force of more than 2,600 line, tree, and public safety specialists are assessing damage, cleaning up extensive debris and restoring power to customers after an early spring storm brought significant icing, and heavy, wet snow to the region over the last 24 hours.

March is coming to a close with a late winter storm and National Grid is responding by increasing staffing and extending evening and overnight work shifts.

A few National Grid employees were among a group of business professionals who presented at University at Buffalo’s March 20 Science Exploration Day which, for more than 30 years, has provided area high school students a glimpse into local careers in science, technology, and healthcare.
