National Grid's Investment Recovery Team Helps Save Money and Protect the Environment
At National Grid, our Investment Recovery team plays a big role in managing a large portion of the company's surplus material. One important way they help is through something called redeployment.
What is redeployment?
Redeployment means reusing equipment and materials that are still in good condition instead of throwing them away. For example, if a piece of office furniture or equipment is no longer needed by one department, the Investment Recovery team checks the condition. If it is still usable, they list it in an internal catalog. Other departments at National Grid can then request these items and use them again.
Why is redeployment important?
- Saves money- Reusing items removes the need to buy replacements, saving departments money and helping keep overall costs lower for customers
- Protects the environment- Reusing equipment means less waste goes to landfills. This reduces harmful emissions and supports National Grid's efforts to lower greenhouse gas emissions and meet climate goals
- Supports operations, especially during storms- During storms, the Investment Recovery team makes sure our crews have the materials they need to restore power quickly and safely. They can provide items from their stock when warehouses run low or supplies are needed quickly.
Other Investment Recovery services
In addition to redeployment, the team reconditions equipment, returns usable materials to company inventory, resells surplus items, reclaims parts, recycles using in-house equipment, and removes items when necessary.
Redeployment is a key part of how the Investment Recovery team helps National Grid save money, protect the environment, and keep the lights on for our customers.
