National Grid: one of the World's Most Ethical Companies 2020

National Grid has been recognised as one of ‘The World’s Most Ethical Companies’ in 2020. Assessed on various measures of ethics, including governance and compliance, we’re one of just 132 companies globally to be included in the list.

National Grid has achieved recognition as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies in 2020, on a list assessed and compiled by The Ethisphere Institute that works to define and advance standards of ethical business practice. On this year’s list of only 132 other companies across 21 countries, National Grid is one of nine of these within energy and utilities.

Making sure we have an ethical culture and business practices is central to our work and we take it very seriously at all levels from the board down. William Holzhauer, National Grid’s Director of US Ethics and Compliance, said: “At National Grid, our core value of ‘Doing the Right Thing’ is the fabric of every part of our business and people.

“I am extremely proud that this is the ninth time we have been recognized as one of the world’s most ethical companies; for our commitment to a business model built on integrity for our employees, customers and communities.”

The Ethisphere Institute rates companies based on five categories: governance; ethics and compliance programmes; third party risk management; corporate responsibility; and, leadership and reputation.
