Team volunteering at Eryri National Park

The Eryri VIP team’s green fingers were once again put to good use during a day of volunteering at Eryri National Park

As part of our monthly programme of volunteering activity in partnership with Eryri National Park, members of the project team spent a day in the vicinity of the striking 19th-century Cwm Prysor viaduct near Trawsfynydd.

After a rainy start to 2026, the volunteers were blessed with sunshine as they set about tree planting. Over the course of the day, nearly 400 trees were successfully planted.

These trees will form part of a new woodland in the national park which will be of great benefit to local wildlife and help to mitigate against climate change. As the tree planting season is short, having some additional pairs of hands to support was crucial.

Steve Ellison, Senior Project Manager for the Eryri VIP scheme, said: “Our continued partnership with Eryri National Park has given us great opportunities to get involved in activity that truly make a difference when it comes to restoring and enhancing the local natural landscape.

“We’re very thankful to the team at Eryri National Park for giving us the opportunity to come and show our support and to our colleagues at National Grid and Hochtief UK for rolling up their sleeves to help.”
