Survey works: Meadowhall Road and Weedon Street junction

As part of our preparations for the main construction phase of the Sheffield Cable Replacement project, we will be carrying out essential survey work along Meadowhall Road, at the junction with Weedon Street.

Our teams will be on site between 10pm and 5am on two separate nights in December:

  • From 10pm on Sunday 14 December to 5am on Monday 15 December
  • From 10pm on Friday 19 December to 5am on Saturday 20 December

Temporary 3-way traffic lights and a single lane closure will be in place to ensure the surveys can be carried out safely. There will be no impact to the supply of electricity during this activity. Access to properties will also be maintained.

Project update: July 2025

Since the start of 2024, we have been carrying out survey works along the planned cable routes as part of our construction preparations. These surveys are essential for gathering the information needed to plan and deliver the project safely and effectively.

As this work has progressed, our teams have encountered some unforeseen engineering design challenges along sections of the route. To ensure these are thoroughly investigated and resolved, we now expect to begin construction in mid-2026.

We understand this represents a delay to the project, and we appreciate the continued patience of communities along the route. Please be assured that there will be no disruption to electricity supply at any stage of the project.

We will continue to share regular updates here on the website and through our e-newsletter as the project moves forward.
