Shurton substation connecting low-carbon energy to the electricity network

National Grid’s contractor, Linxon, started work at Shurton substation in June 2019.

The new substation will connect Hinkley Point C into the electricity network, delivering low-carbon energy to the south west and connect six million UK homes and businesses. The substation sits within the boundary of the Hinkley Point C site and is expected to be operational by mid-2022.

All National Grid staff and contractors working on the substation work under Hinkley Point C’s traffic and delivery management plans. Our activities are closely coordinated with theirs to minimise local impact.
