Traffic management measures on the A134 between 8 and 19 September

Since our development consent order for the Bramford to Twinstead Reinforcement was granted, we have been carrying out preparatory works ahead of main construction along the project route. As part of this, we now need to install the main access to our construction compound near Leavenheath (CO10 5LX) and tie it into the A134.

To ensure the safety of our workforce and the public while this is carried out, traffic management measures will be in place between 8 and 19 September 2025. These will operate on weekdays between 08:00 and 17:30, and on weekends between 08:00 to 17:00. Outside of these hours, the traffic management will be removed. The work will be carried out by Balfour Beatty, on behalf of National Grid.

During these periods, temporary two-way traffic lights will be in place to support safe access to the site. These will only be in operation during working hours and will be removed from the carriageway overnight. To minimise disruption, the signals will be manually controlled at all times to manage the flow of traffic. Advance warning signs will be displayed, and the work area will be clearly marked with cones and barriers.

We understand that our work may cause some disruption to your journey, and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Our teams will work to complete these activities as efficiently and safely as possible. Should any work be delayed or take longer than planned, updates will be shared here on our website.
