New York Day of Service
Our New York Day of Service aims to inspire positive change, create local impact, strengthen communities and make a difference through partnerships with local organisations. On our Day of Service, employees volunteer with sustainability programs, neighborhood development projects, community assistance initiatives and more.
We held our first Day of Service event in September of 2021, during which more than 1,000 National Grid employees volunteered in their own communities. In the three years since, we’ve supported communities across five regions, worked with thousands of volunteers and supported hundreds of community organisations through this initiative.
This year, more than 2,000 employees participated in 38 volunteering events covering areas from park cleanups to food preparation for those in need. Partners that we volunteered with included:
- Habitat for Humanity
- The Salvation Army
- The Reti Center
- United Veterans Beacon House
- Girls Inc.
- The Buffalo and Erie County Naval and Military Park
- and many more
