National Grid Volunteers Help Clean Up Staten Island’s Silver Lake Park
Silver Lake Park on Staten Island is a sprawling 209 acres with many recreational activities, walking trails, open green spaces and other amenities for visitors to enjoy.
As part of National Grid’s Project C initiative to support local communities, more than 20 employees spent a day volunteering. At the end of the day the volunteers painted nine benches, trimmed overgrown branches along pathways and removed 29 bags full of invasive plants.
“It was a day of hard work, but well worth the effort,” said Paul Dezinna, Supervisor, National Grid NYC Gas Field Operations. “Our employees are always willing and happy to support projects that enhance communities. Helping to maintain this green open space for people of all ages to enjoy is very rewarding for us.”
