National Grid Celebrates Pride Month with Parade Sponsorship and Participation in Virtual Panel
Waltham, MA – National Grid has kicked off its Pride month celebrations in Massachusetts with Pride employee events including Pride flag raisings at several of its office locations and sponsorship of tomorrow’s Boston Pride Parade.
National Grid will have over 50 employees, family and friends marching in this year’s parade, walking alongside the latest Chevy Bolt Electric Vehicle. Employee volunteers, including members of National Grid’s Pride Employee Resource Group (ERG), will also host a booth on Boston Common to celebrate, support and connect with parade attendees.
These celebrations come on the heels of National Grid’s recognition as a Boston Business Journal 2023 Business of Pride Corporate Ally award honoree for the company’s dedication to advancing the well-being of the greater Boston LGBTQ+ community.
“National Grid is fortunate to have a Pride Employee Resource Group of active, engaged and committed individuals who embody the values of our company while making an extremely positive impact for our colleagues and communities—not just in June—but year-round,” said Stephen Woerner, President of National Grid, New England. “They have spoken out and spoken up on critical issues impacting the LGBTQ+ community, conducted important programming for LGBTQ+ employees and allies, and are consistently a visible presence at community events and conferences, helping to contribute to positive change in the communities we serve. I’m incredibly proud to lead a company that not only engages in conversations around LGBTQ+ issues but fosters an environment where all employees can feel safe, supported, and proud to be their selves.”
National Grid has also partnered with the Boston Globe to host the virtual panel: “Recognizing the Influence and Economic Impact of the LGBTQ+ Community in Massachusetts.” The panel, which took place yesterday, is part of National Grid’s effort to share experiences, embrace differences and celebrate the value of diversity. WBUR reporter Cristela Guerra sat down with BlueHub Capital CEO Elyse Cherry, Mariangely Solis Cervera, Boston’s Chief of Equity and Inclusion, and Grace Moreno, Executive Director of the Massachusetts LGBT Chamber of Commerce, to highlight the importance of inclusive culture through the four key pillars of National Grid’s Pride initiatives: community, commerce, careers, and culture.
