You can find out more about our proposals on this website, including by viewing our consultation documents in the document library.
We are holding a series of in-person public information events and online webinars where you can hear more about our plans from members of the project team. Learn more about the events and how to give your feedback on our have your say page.
We are developing a first-of-its-kind electricity link between the UK and the Netherlands, a vital step toward an integrated North Sea grid.
LionLink will deliver a range of benefits, including:
- Strengthening the UK’s national energy security – supplying up to 2 gigawatts of electricity, enough energy to power approximately 2.5 million homes.
- Lowering energy bills
- Providing clean, green, renewable energy
First of its kind technology
At the moment, offshore wind farms and interconnectors operate separately, connecting to the shore individually. Offshore Hybrid Assets (OHA) allow clusters of offshore wind farms to connect all in one go, plugging into the energy systems of neighbouring countries. As an OHA, LionLink is a first of its kind technology, connecting an offshore wind farm to the shore and supplying more low-cost renewable energy into the system.
