National Grid today launches Britain's latest interconnector, IFA2. The 149-mile-long power cable runs along the sea bed between Portsmouth, Hampshire in the UK and near Caen, Normandy in France sharing surplus clean energy between the two countries.

National Grid’s Grain LNG and Qatar Terminal Limited (QTL), a subsidiary of Qatar Petroleum, have today (13 Oct) announced a 25-year agreement that will provide the Qatari company with storage and redelivery capacity at Grain LNG from mid-2025.
A 178-tonne supergrid electricity transformer has been delivered via Dunball Wharf to Taunton Substation. An upgrade to the substation is needed as part of the Hinkley Connection project, which will transport low carbon energy to more than 6 million UK homes and businesses.The transformer will ensure power continues to be delivered reliably to the local area.

Marking a key stage in National Grid’s work to replace the existing underground electricity cable in Stockport, the Mayor, Councillor Dean Fitzpatrick, joined the project team at Heaton Norris Park to help pull the cable through the ducts.
