The London Power Tunnels (LPT) team were delighted to recently welcome Jules Pipe to the Hurst site to visit the tunnels for the first time since completion.

The last of the project’s massive tunnel boring machines (TBMs), named ‘Grace’, broke through on Saturday, having tunnelled over 11km eastwards from National Grid’s New Cross substation in Southwark.

Charities, community groups and other non-profits near London Power Tunnels (LPT) sites have benefitted from grants of up to £20k via National Grid’s Community Grant Programme

The London Power Tunnels team was delighted to host representatives of the armed forces and National Grid ESO, as the organisation signed the Armed Forces Covenant, a voluntary pledge to support the welfare, employment and education of the armed forces community and their families.

As part of National Grid’s corporate commitment to ensure carbon neutrality in construction activities by 2025/26, LPT has embraced new construction methods and technology to ensure the impact of the project is limited and carbon usage kept to a minimum.
